A few months ago, my sister Bethany asked if I wanted a bridal shower or bachelorette party before the wedding. I had to pause and think about that for a moment. I don’t know…. did I?
So far, my focus has been on ensuring that the wedding is as simple and stress-free as possible. No church, no bridesmaids, no chairs, no friends. Just my immediate family, my sweetheart, and the mountains.
So when it came to a bridal shower I had to really think about it. The idea of playing tedious parlor games or traipsing around in a veil and a tiara had me breaking into a cold sweat. No, thank you.
I did like the idea of having a relaxing girls day however. My mom and sisters have been talking about a girls-only day for a long time and we never got around to it. Now seemed like a perfect time… but with the caveat that it was NOT going to be a bridal shower.
And so “The Non-Bridal Shower Celebration of Women” was born (credit goes to Sara Stewart for coining this phrase 😊). On the appointed day, a few ladies joined me for brunch and then we strolled around the Seattle Japanese Gardens. And that was it. No gifts, no games, no cake, no nonsense. It was simple and chill and absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better day â¤ï¸
The wedding is in 10 days! Squee!
That was such a wonderful day! Thanks for including me Katy! I can’t wait to see you tie the knot 😊
