Vagabonding Days 21-27
Rovinj, Croatia

After travelling nonstop for the better part of a month, Daniel and I decided to stay put for a week in the sleepy seaside town of Rovinj. We arrived in the off season so the streets felt empty and quiet. Many shops and restaurants were closed for the winter and the town basically shut down after dark. It was a welcome change from the bustling cruise ship crowds that packed the city of Split.

We intentionally didn’t schedule many activities as we wanted to relax and take our time exploring the town. It had been an exhausting summer. Between planning a wedding, quitting our jobs, moving out of our home and planning a multi-year international trip, we were worn out.

We lucked out with the weather and enjoyed temperatures between 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit every day. Apparently this was unseasonably warm for this time of year. On our last day in town, we even took the plunge and went swimming in one of Rovinj’s stunningly beautiful rocky beaches.

It was a lovely week and felt like the honeymoon we really didn’t have for after our wedding.

Here are some pictures from our week in Rovinj. Enjoy!

We flew from Pula to Rovinj in a tiny prop airplane. The propellers were not visible to the naked eye but showed up in this photo.

Adorable snuggly kitties.

Our apartment had a balcony with a view of the harbor. I spent a lot of time on that balcony. Photo by Daniel.

Peka (meat and veggies cooked under a domed lid in hot coals). YUM!

We succumb to peer pressure and eat our pizzas with cutlery. These pizzas were AMAZING by the way.

Daniel sips rakija, a local brandy.

Rovinj’s rocky beaches have delightful nooks and coves for swimming.

We plucked up our courage and went swimming on our last day in Rovinj. It was COLD! (Nice hat, Daniel!)

We returned to our swimming spot with a bottle of wine to enjoy the evening air.
