I hit a couple of big milestones today. I’ve officially hiked over 1500 miles on the the PCT! I’ve also hiked the highest number of miles so far in a single day – 25.4 miles! And, for those of you tracking steps, I walked 68819 steps which is a new record for me as well.
I camped on the shores of Timothy Lake which is popular with day hikers and weekend backpackers. I found a secluded little cove and put up my tent as I listened to the forest transition from day to night. Fished jumped and plopped loudly into the water and insects hummed. I was also hearing some new sounds that I hadn’t heard before coming from the lake – some crunching and chewing noises. Hmm. I wondered that was making those sounds.
It was getting dark as I cooked dinner and I put on my headlamp. It’s getting darker earlier and earlier these days, especially in the woods. I heard a rustling noise and turned my head to illuminate a mouse scurrying out from under the nearby fire ring just past my food bag. I’ll have to watch my food tonight!

You were about as close to us as you were going to be. Blessings!
Hope you are doing well! And the Forest fires are not being a hurdle in your last leg!
Doing well. The fires are presenting an interesting challenge. I’m going to have to change my plans a bit as a result. Stay tuned…. 😛
